Pre-CanSkate /Parent & Tot
Pre-CanSkate is a 30-minute learn-to-skate program fro children 3-4 years of age, with little or no skating experience. It serves as an introduction to skating and prepares young skaters to move into the CanSkate program. They will learn the basic skills of falling down and standing up, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and many other skills that are necessary for building a strong foundation for other types of skating.
The skater may attend on their own or together with a parent. For families who wish to attend in the ‘Parent and Tot’ format, the adult who will accompany the child on ice must also be registered with Skate Canada and therefore an additional fee of $62.70 will be charged.
Lessons are taught by a certified Skate Canada Professional Coach, with support from trained Program Assistants. Assessments are ongoing, allowing each child to progress at their own pace.
All skaters must wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet with a chin strap and face mask (cage) is optional. Parents may opt to dress younger children in snowsuits (please be sure they are able to fall down and get up easily). Mitts or gloves are required.
