Program Assistant (PA) Policy
We know that having helpful, committed, creative and enthusiastic PAs, has a direct impact on making a GREAT CanSkate program!
Senior A & B
As a Club we strive to offer the best programming for our participants, and the role of PA is a key component to ensure our youngest skaters enjoy their time on the ice. Our senior skaters have benefitted from the mentoring of past skaters, and we look to them to pass along their excitement and enthusiasm for the sport of skating. From a financial standpoint, it is important to note, the CanSkate program heavily funds the Senior ice time.
The Club asks each Senior skater to PA at least once a week, for a total of 20 classes or more.
To best understand their on and off-ice responsibilities, a PA training session will be held in early October before the start of the CanSkate session.
For our PAs who are high school students, they will continue to receive volunteer hours.
Intermediates
As a Club we strive to offer the best programming for our participants, and it is now time for your skater to play a key role as “Junior PA.” It is their turn to begin helping our younger skaters by assisting the coaches with the delivery of the CanSkate program. We look forward to their contribution and future development as skaters and mentors.
The Club asks each Intermediate skater to PA at least once a week, for a total of 20 classes.
To best understand their on and off-ice responsibilities, a PA training session will be held in early October before the start of the CanSkate session.
At the end of the season, our PAs will be individually recognized for their contributions.
